  • 10 Horrible Prehistoric Sea Monsters

There are a lot of sea animals that look like a monster and lived in Prehistoric Times. We searched some sources and we prepared a video about them. This video include information about these sea monster.\r
    \r
    10 Terrifying Prehistoric Sea Monsters:\r
Some of the largest creatures this world has ever seen lived millions of years ago. Here are ten of the largest, most fearsome sea monsters ever to prowl the oceans:\r
    \r
10-Shastasaurus: The ichthyosaurs were marine predators that looked like modern dolphins, and could reach a massive size during the Triassic period over 200 million years ago. Shastasaurus, the largest marine reptile species ever found, was a variety of ichthyosaur that could grow to over 65 feet (20m).\r
9-Dakosaurus: Dakosaurus could reach a length of 16 feet (5m). Its unique teeth have led scientists to consider it an apex predator during its reign of terror. Dakosaurus was first discovered in Germany and, with its odd reptilian-yet-fishy body, was one of the top predators in the sea during the Jurassic period.\r
8-Thalassomedon: Thalassomedon was a species of Pliosaur whose name translates from Greek to sea lord -- and for good reason. They were massive predators, reaching lengths of up to 40 feet (12m). Its flippers were nearly 7 feet (2m) long, allowing it to swim the depths with deadly efficiency.\r
7-Nothosaurus: They were armed with a mouth full of sharp, outward-pointing teeth, suggesting a diet of squid and fish.Fossil evidence suggests that they lived during the Triassic period over 200 million years ago.\r
6-Tylosaurus: Tylosaurus was a species of Mosasaur. It was enormous, reaching more than 50 feet (15m) in length. They lived during the late Cretaceous in the seas that covered North America, where they sat firmly atop the marine food chain for several million years.\r
5-Thalattoarchon Saurophagis: Only recently discovered, T. saurophagis was the size of a school bus, reaching nearly 30 feet (9m) long. It is an early species of ichthyosaur that lived during the Triassic period, 244 million years ago.\r
4-Tanystropheus: Tanystropheus was a reptile that could reach 20 feet (6m) long, and it is thought to have been alive during the Triassic period nearly 215 million years ago.\r
3-Liopleurodon: Liopleurodon was a marine reptile measuring in at more than 20 (6m) feet in length. It mostly lived in the seas that covered Europe during the Jurassic period, and it was one of the top predators around.\r
2-Mosasaurus: Fossil evidence suggests that Mosasaurus could reach as much as 50 feet (15m) in length, making it one of the largest marine predators of the Cretaceous period. \r
1-Megalodon: Megalodons prowled the depths during the Cenozoic Era, 28 -- 1.5 million years ago, and were a much bigger version of the great white shark, an apex predator of todays oceans. But while our great whites only reach a maximum length of 20 feet (6m), Megolodons could grow to 65 feet in length (20m).\r
    \r
Sea monsters are sea-dwelling mythical or legendary creatures, often believed to be of immense size. Marine monsters can take many forms, including sea dragons, sea serpents, or multi-armed beasts. They can be slimy or scaly and are often pictured threatening ships or spouting jets of water. The definition of a monster is subjective, and some sea monsters may have been based on scientifically accepted creatures such as whales and types of giant and colossal squid.\r

    4. Twin Village\r
Kodinhi Village is a village in Kerala, India. It is more well known by its well-named nickname, “Twin Village”. It gained its name from the unusually high occurrence of twin births. As of 2008, the village contained 2,000 families and among the citizens were about 250 twins. Although India has one of the lowest rates of twin births, the multiple birth rate in this village is very large. An association of twins was founded in the town called The Twins and Kins Association. Scientists have no explanation for the recurrence of these births. Women who moved away from the village also are known to give birth to twins, doctors believe that the occurrence is caused by chemicals in the water supply. There are currently 79 pairs of twins 10 and under in the village.\r
    \r
    3. Deur Kothar\r
Kothar was discovered in 1982. It is located in Madhya (Ma-dja) Pradesh, Central India. This Buddhist temple is also known for its stupas or dome-shaped structures. The government of India named the location a monument of national importance in 1988 and it has since been preserved by the Archeological Survey of India. The DNA of the bones have been tested and they found a wide array of origins, from locals of the area to people that came from distant places. DNA also revealed that the remains date back to around 850 AD. The cause of death of the skeletons is said to be a large round object, as opposed to any kind of blunt force trauma. Theories still rage and the ensuing popularity of the site raises a conservation problem. Tourists to the site have been stealing the bones at an alarming rate and archeologists want to keep the site int for further research. \r
    \r

  • 9 UNUSUAL Things Under the Sea

From octopus gardens, to the way scallops get farmed, these are 9 UNUSUAL Things Under the Sea ! \r
    \r
    \r
Octopuss Garden -- Finding treasure under the sea isnt so unusual … unless its discovered by and octopus! A Korean fisherman was hoping for a catch of webfoot octopus, which is considered a delicacy. When his first catch of the day was hauled in, he noticed the creature had several blue objects attached to its suckers. The fisherman thought they were seashells at first. But upon further examination, the objects turned out to be shards of pottery. He cast his net a few more times. Each succeeding octopus had those same shards of pottery attached to the suckers… one creature even had an entire plate caught in its tentacles. When the fisherman returned to shore, he conted the National Maritime Museum of Seoul, who sent out a team to investigate. Officials said the pottery was over 900 years old, dating back to the 12th century Koryo (korry-O) Dynasty. Over 30 bowls were later recovered … and its now being hailed as one of the greatest-ever undersea treasure finds. And likely the only time an octopus made the initial discovery!\r
    \r
Ghost Fleet -- over 40 perfectly preserved shipwrecks were discovered recently on the floor of the Black Sea. A mapping expedition accidently discovered the ancient shipwrecks at depths of 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) … researchers used a pair of Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to survey the area. The Black Maritime Archaeology Project was originally carrying out geophysical surveys. The ships have been identified as belonging to the Ottoman and Byzantine Empires … Ancient Greece and Rome, as well as the Byzantine Empire conducted many ivities on the Black Sea. The ships perfectly preserved condition is attributed to the Black Seas lower, anoxic (ah-nox-ik) level. Archaeologists call is a ‘dead zone … a part of the Black Sea that contains no light or oxygen. The organisms that normally feast on organic materials like wood cannot exist in this environment. Its thought the findings will provide new insights regarding those communities living on the coast of the Black Sea.\r
    \r
Sea Bells -- Some truly bizarre structures were located in an underwater cave in Yucatan, Mexico. Weird looking stalites shaped like bells are hidden deep within huge cenotes (seh-no-tees) … or naturally formed sinkholes made of limestone. Mayans used some of them for a source of fresh water and built their towns around them. These stalites came in a vast array of sizes … some are miniscule while others are as large as a person. Experts say the stalites are created by minerals in water dripping from the cave ceiling. But while most have pointed tips, these have formed into bell-like shapes. Its thought that wind blowing in the caves might be the reason for the unusual shapes … but no one really knows for sure. One thing is for certain … these structures were formed over thousands of years. A typical stalite can take 100 years to grow one inch! The variety of shapes have invited comparisons to elephants feet, trumpets and shower heads. Some of us thought a few of the stalites resembled those big rocket engines used by NASA … Tell us what you saw!\r
    \r
Aquaculture is also known as aquafarming, or fish farming … It is a term that refers to to the farming of aquatic organisms including fish, crustaceans and aquatic plants. Aquafarming cultivates aquatic plants and animals … as opposed to fisheries that catch, process and sell fish. Concerns over fisheries passing on diseases from processed fish onto wild fish have led to a global expansion of large-scale aquafarming from the Philippines to Scotland … which is proving to be beneficial for the environment … and self-sustainable as well. Some forms of aquafarming use vertical cages, filled with giant scallops, which thrive on fish waste andas a natural water filter. Nearby, aquatic plants like sugar kelp convert nitrates and phosphorous into plant tissue. Other aquatic farms harvest the cobia, also known as the black salmon and is a highly valued seafood. These pens can hold 40,000 fish that are continually cleansed by the current … without using antibiotics. In new, aquaculture produced 70 million tonnes … that number is expected to grow in the future. \r
